Omar Nicolas is an artist, curator, designer, and music producer. OMAR works in artistic research and realizes their projects through multimedia formats. In 2013, he completed his master’s degree at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design. Since then, Omar has been living in Berlin and working as an artist and music producer. omar artistic approach combines socially critical themes with elements of pop culture.
From 2015 to Sep. 2022, Omar was founder of the collective Fehras Publishing Practices with Sami Rustom and Kenan Darwich. The work in Fehras engages in various participatory methods and artistic productions, focusing on the relationship between publishing and history-making. It examines the role of publishing as a tool to combat cultural domination, as well as a means to foster solidarity and deconstruct colonial power. The work serves as an observatory for publishing strategies and practices around political and geographical transformations of the eastern Mediterranean and North Africa.
